About Ms. Katrina...

Ms. Katrina Wellman-Machut grew up mainly in South Dakota. As a teenager she lived in the Steamboat Springs area and graduated from SoRoCo in 1995. Katrina received an Associate in Arts at CMC in Steamboat, and then relocated to Fort Collins to continue her education. She graduated with honors in 2002, earning a degree in Human Development and Family Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. She taught First Grade at Spangler Elementary, a high impact poverty school, in Longmont, CO for 4 years. During her time at Spangler she was nominated for DisneyŐs Creative Teacher of the Year award and received Teacher of the Month in December 2006. This summer she and her son returned to the Steamboat area, and is excited to be a part of a school, which values the development of the whole child. She feels blessed to be a teacher at NRCCS, and couldnŐt ask for a better school for her son. Katrina is passionate about teaching and believes learning occurs in an inviting, stimulating classroom environment.
