About Miss Missy
Missy (Beirne-pronounced like Burney)
known as Miss Missy, was raised in Cincinnati and across the
Ohio River in Northern Kentucky. She earned a BA in Education
from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, with an English
major and Sociology minor. Her teaching experience includes
being a reader/editor and Right To Read teacher at the Middle
School, a substitute for K-12, and 10 years of teaching at
Christian Heritage School .She taught grades K-6, including
Literacy , Math , Bible, Science, History, and Latin. After
testing the waters as a concierge, Steamboat Springs Parks
an Rec Registration Specialist, City Hall front desk clerk,
antique and home furnishings sales person and having her own
business, "Clutter Busters," she has twice returned to teaching,
finding nothing better than making a difference in a child's
life. Missy moved to Steamboat in 1974,moved away, and has
since resided here since 1989. She lived at Pearl Lake for
5 years, and now lives in town and drives up to what she feels
is the best place in the world to be-North Routt. Missy's
interests include crossÐcountry skiing, antiques, decorating,
garage sales, and photography. The last two summers she enjoyed
being a staff member and student at "The Arts For The Soul
Camp." Her greatest love is her two children, their spouses
and one granddaughter. Oh yes, and a grandson due in January!!!
