About Ms. Carissa

Carissa Unrein grew up in Colorado on the Front Range. She attended grade school and high school in the suburbs of Denver before continuing onto college at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. During her time at CSU, Carissa began studying science before finishing her degree in math education. In the fall of 2005, Carissa student taught at Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins. Come the spring of 2006, she decided to move up to Steamboat Springs. Prior to coming to North Routt Community Charter School, she was a track coach and summer school math teacher for Steamboat Springs Middle School. She also taught math at Steamboat Springs High School during the 2006-2007 school year. Carissa's goal for all her students is to provide them with a structured, nurturing environment that allows them to grow as learners and people. Carissa is very excited to be apart of NRCCS. Not only does she have an adventurous spirit, but also she loves the priceless experiences that all students receive in multigrade classrooms and on their excursions. On her free time, Carissa enjoys many things such as reading, biking, rock climbing, backpacking, drawing, snowboarding/skiing, and painting. This is going to be a wonderful school year for both Carissa and the students. If you would like to contact Carissa at any time, you may call her at 720-352-5795 or e-mail her at ccunrein@hotmail.com.
